I originally sourced this gem decades ago from a carver in Idar-Oberstein, Germany for a local artist. For some reason he didn’t follow through on the project…probably a money thing, it usually is. So in looking at this beautiful gem and thinking about what to do with it for years it recently became clear to me that it was perfect for our times. This Too Shall Pass is a wonderful meditation to practice, that whatever situation in which we find ourselves, it is only a moment among many that we experience. I think it’s fair to say, given the state of the world today, this is a reminder that we can all use. And it doesn’t really even matter what side of any fence you sit upon, we are in “interesting times” as meant by the ancient Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times!”

Buddhist beliefs tend to emphasize the impermanence of all things. The now, the past, and the future all form a collective of experience. This ring will go to a person who understands the depth of those ideas.
